Danish vocalist, composer (1928-1977), a major contributor to danish schlager repertoire w. his catchy barfly protest songs. First major public appearance in 1952 as member of the vocal quartet Blue Boys, and after that Four Jacks. Four Jacks disbanded in 1962 as rock music began to change popular music, and Mogensen lived in artistic obscurity for half a decade until his comeback as solo artist in 1970. Making a living as a bar pianist, his "Joe Six-pack" protest songs caught a major audience and paved the way for a very successful come-back that lasted until alcohol addiction ended his life in 1977.
