Birthe Kjær

Danish pop singer, born 1 September 1948 in Aarhus. Began her professional career in 1968 when signed by [a=Johnny Reimar] after hearing her sing in a nightclub. Her debut single "[r=4413702]" reached number one on Dansktoppen, the Danish chart for popular music, the week it was released. It was the start of a very successful domestic career that per 2018 has lasted 50 years. Over the years she has released around 40 albums, and was noticed internationally when she came number 3 in the 1989 Eurovision Song Contest with "[r=3893737]".
