Werner Nadolny

About

German composer, arranger, keyboard and saxophone player in the Krautrock era, born April 3, 1947 in Hannover, Germany; died May 22, 2023 in Hannover, Germany.

Nadolny studied music in the 1960's and joined the band The JP's as saxophonist, after the recording of their debut single. He was one of the musicians of that band, who founded Jane in 1970, after the JP's split in 1969.
In the new band Jane, he no more played saxophone, but now was keyboarded of the group. In 1973, Nadolny left the band due to controversies within the band. In 1976, he rejoined the band to record the album Fire, Water, Earth & Air, but left the band the same year to found the short-lived band [a3328783] in 1976.
Nadolny stayed in touch with Jane and joined their successor Warlock, after Jane's recording contract ended. That band was founded in order to support Jon Symon's musical 'Warlock' in the early 1980's. Eventually, he became member of Peter Panka's Jane. After Panka died in 2007, Nadolny split the band and reformed it under the new name Werner Nadolny's Jane. He was able to perform with the band until 2015. Then, he started to suffer from multiple sklerosis, a disease which let him end his musical career, although the band with his name is still performing.
