Vernon "Piggy" Teague was originally the leader of a band called the Checkers, known in and around Miami as backing band for artists such as Little Milton, Sam and Dave and O.V. Wright. AFter meeting producer Clarence Reid, they rechristened The Mighty Dogcatchers and released their only single in 1969.
