US soul-funk band from Miami, FL, active in late 60s/early 70s. The guitarist/vocalist Frankie Seay had cut his teeth in the Florida music scene touring through much of the 60s supporting headline acts such as Sam & Dave and Lou Rawls. Back in Miami, he formed the band which would become the Soul Riders, though they were initially called The Contact High. Very much a family affair, with Frankie's brothers Jerry and Howard occupying the bass and drums rispectively, the Soul Riders remained somewhat aloof from the main drag of the Miami soul scene at the time. As the 70s rolled forth, Harold and Jerry Seay would join the funk rock combo Mother's Finest while Frankie released one last 45 in 1980.
