Rosalili

Band history: The group ROSALILI around the Puhdys sons Andy Birr (father Dieter Birr) and Hendrik Röder (father Peter Meyer) was founded in 1985. It emerged from the student bands MARATHON and MAYDAY. Musically, in the mid-80s, they were exactly up to date. The band's own compositions, which came from all the musicians of the band, were provided with texts by the Silly house composer Werner Karma in the early years. This mixture was very successful, because shortly after its foundation, the young band produced their own songs, which were first released on a mini-sampler in 1986 ( "Start Schuss 2"). In the same year, ROSALILI was voted the best young band by the readers of the youth magazine 'neues leben', and their song "Rosalili" was well placed in the ratings broadcasts of the GDR radio. In the end, the piece took 6th place in the year-end evaluation of all radio hit parades. The following year the high-altitude flight for the boys continued. In 1987 ROSALILI took part in the festival "Rock für den Frieden" and afterwards the GDR record label AMIGA released a quartet single with four songs of the band. The pieces "Lass die Liebe herein", "Keine Sterne" und "Jagd auf Liebe" produced in 1988 were again at the top of the radio broadcast ratings. In the annual charts "Jagd auf Liebe" took 19th place, and the readers of the youth magazine 'Neues Leben' again chose the band as the most popular up-and-coming band. The following year, the musicians of ROSALILI recorded in the studio the piece "Wenn Träume sterben", which originated in the original from the PUHDYS. The title was eventually used on the anniversary album "20 Years of Puhdys". The highlight of this time was a tour in Cuba. In the same year Jörn Güttler left the band. After Güttler's exit, the lights were slowly running out for ROSALILI as well. After the fall of the Wall, the band played a concert in Paderborn, but then disbanded. In 1993, ROSALILI made a comeback attempt. Andy Birr took the initiative here and found in Holger Jagsch and Henry Finkenwirth two competitors, who approached the company together with him. The title "Endlich lieben" written by Dieter 'Machine' Birr (PUHDYS) as well as "Geh' wenn Du geh'n musst" and "Armer Hund" were produced in the studio and released as a CD single. The press reported on the band's comeback, but the CD was not sufficiently publicised, so it sold poorly. The comeback was over faster than it had begun. After the comeback attempt in 1993, Birr and Finkenwirth went to accompany Lucy van Org's project LUCILECTRIC and therefore dissolved ROSALILI. In 1994, Hendrik Röder and Andy Birr co-ordinated the group BELL BOOK & CANDLE together with Jana Groß (vocals), which was to land a Europe-wide hit in 1997 with "Rescue Me". Holger Jagsch also plays there as a guest every now and then. Jörn Güttler started a solo career under the name GÜTT some time after his departure from Rosalili in 1989. In 1995, Polydor released the singles "Jetzt komm ich" and "Single sein". In total, about 10 songs were produced in his solo career, but no album was ever produced. During their existence, the band has not released their own album. Only 30 years after the release of their quartet single in 1987, the record label AMIGA released a kind of "Best Of" album on CD under the title "Sweet Sin - The AMIGA Singles", which was part of the 5-CD-Box "Rock von " Eastside (80s).
