Miranda Martino (Moggio Udinese, October 29th, 1933) is an Italian singer. She made her debut in 1955 at the new voices competition called by RAI to select participants of the following 1956 Festival di Sanremo: even though she didn't gain access to the final, she gained anyway a record contract, so she started to take part to various radio and TV shows. In 1957 in fact, she took part for the first time to Festival di Napoli where she will have gone back again for the following two years; her debut at Festival di Sanremo instead came in 1959. In the same year she gained a great success with the song "Stasera tornerò", theme song of the TV show entitled "La donna che lavora"; in the early 60's she is for sure one of the most popular Italian singers, also thanks to her partecipations to the most important musical manifestations of that period (again Festival di Sanremo, Canzonissima, Cantagiro 1962). In 1963 started the theatrical career of Miranda Martino who, in the course of decade, will have acted with great actors like Erminio Macario, Nino Taranto ecc. never forgetting music world. Two albums recorded in 1963 and in 1967 gained a certain plaudit. She played again some famous themes from Neapolitan tradition with the arrangements by Ennio Morricone; she also took part to other three editions of "Canzonissima" and several TV shows. Since the 70's she devoted herself almost entirely to recitals and theatrical performances, occupation that she still continues.
