    American rock guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and producer. Born on 1 February 1950 in Panama City, Florida, USA, and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. Has resided in Woodland Hills, California, since 1981, where he has a home studio. Spouse of Marcie Campbell, father of Kelsey Campbell.


    Heavily influenced by Bob Dylan and The Byrds. Best known for his work with Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers, with whom he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

    Formed first band, "Dead or Alive," in 1968. Met Tom Petty in Gainesville, Florida, in 1970. Joined Petty in Mudcrutch, which relocated to Los Angeles in 1974. Then formed Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers in 1976.

    Founded The Dirty Knobs in 2000 as a side project.

    Campbell, along with Neil Finn, temporarily joined Fleetwood Mac to replace lead guitarist Lindsey Buckingham on their world tour in 2018-19.
