Influential American folk, psychedelic, and country rock band founded in Los Angeles in 1964. They recorded 12 studio albums before disbanding in 1973. During this period the band underwent several line-up changes with frontman and guitarist Roger McGuinn remaining the only constant member. In 1991 The Byrds were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the original five members performing together for the last time after their induction.

August 8, 2000
Santa Monica Civic Auditorium
Santa Monica, California, United StatesImpromptu, one-off performance at a tribute concert for Fred Walecki, the owner of a Los Angeles music equipment store who was suffering from throat cancer. Crosby and Hillman were booked to appear at the event separately, but McGuinn, who was not listed on the bill, made a surprise appearance and joined his two former partners on stage. According to contemporary press reports, the reunion was an unmitigated success, with the audience giving the band multiple standing ovations and shouting for more as they left the stage. To date this is the Byrds' final live performance.
