Swedish conductor, composer and professor, born 15 November 1953 in Kristinehamn. He has been Professor of Choir Singing and Conducting at the University of Stage and Music at the University of Gothenburg since 2006. Since 1978 he leads the Chamber Choir Pro Musica in Gothenburg. In connection with its 35th anniversary celebrations in 2013, the choir changed its name to Vocal Art Ensemble. He has studied conducting in London, Salzburg and Siena, among other places, and in 1980 he won second prize in the Austrian Radio's international conducting competition. He has conducted the Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and more. In 2015, Jan Yngwe was named choir leader of the year by Rosenborg-Gehrman's and the Association of Swedish Choir Leaders' joint scholarship. The scholarship was awarded to Malmö City Hall in connection with the party banquet within the framework of the Nordic Choir Conference.
