Cohelmec Ensemble

About

French free jazz group, founded by Jean Cohen (saxophones), Dominique Elbaz (piano), Jean-Louis Méchali (drums) and François Méchali (bass) – each member symbolically offering a truncated portion of their name to the whole – COH / EL / MEC, the Cohelmec Ensemble was a true product of the era of May ’68 – a gesture in the radical collectivist sound – an ensemble without leader.
