Bobbejaan Schoepen was a flemish pioneer in Belgian folk and country music (debut concert: 1945 - first releases: 1948). He released on a regular basis the first country productions in the Benelux (from 1948...), in Germany and Austria (from 1950 to mid 1960s).
In the 1950s he was called a "total performer" : he was a singer-songwriter, guitarist, a former actor and professional yodeler and whistler. He also wrote parodies, sad songs, chansons, and score (cinematic) music.
As an entrepreneur he was well known as the founder and former director of the amusement park, Bobbejaanland. He ran this famous concern for 43 years, together with his wife Josée and later his children.

Died: May 17th, 2010 in Turnhout, Belgium.
