American rock 'n' roll singer.
Born 1933 in Frankford, Delaware, USA.
In the mid-1950s Graves was part of The Country Lads duo with Dick Flood, an Army buddy. The duo landed an appearance on The Jimmy Dean Show in 1956. Dean liked the pair and they became regulars, eventually signing a contract with Columbia Records. The Lads stayed on with Jimmy Dean for three years right up to the end of the show in 1958. When the Dean show ended the Country Lads ended as well, Flood headed for Nashville to sell his songs and Graves signed on with Monument Records, whom he recorded for from 1958-1966.
Graves had a #53 pop hit in 1959 on Monument called “The Shag (Is Totally Cool)”.
