The Cues

Group from Manhattan, NY Consisted of; Jimmy Breedlove, Ollie Jones, Eddie Barnes, Robie Kirk (an alias of [a=Winfield Scott]), Abel Da Costa (1929-1985) Pianist and arranger at [l=Atlantic], [a=Jesse Stone] brought the group to the label to fill the backing vocal needs of the label's recordings of stars. With each star they recorded, The Cues were adopting a different name: For [a=LaVern Baker] they became [a=The Gliders (3)]. For [a=Ivory Joe Hunter] they became [a=The Ivorytones]. For [a=Carmen Taylor] they became [a=The Boleros]. For [a=Big Joe Turner] they became [a=Joe Turner & His Blues Kings]. The irony is that they never recorded at [a=Atlantic] as a main act.
