Michalis Konitopoulos was a Greek folk violinist (mainly) & lutist of the Cycladic style. He was involved in music from a young age, that's why he was nicknamed [b]Μωρό[/b] or [b]Το μωρό[/b] (= Baby or The baby). Born in 1908 in Kinidaros, Naxos island, Greece - Died in 1972. With baby Irene, he and his family relocated to Athens (where Yorgos was born). In the German Occupation they return to the Naxos island again. He worked as a builder but, at the same time, he excelled at events and festivals with his violin. He married Maria Konitopoulou (née Fyrogeni) with whom they had eleven children of whom only five survived: [a=Ειρήνη Κονιτοπούλου-Λεγάκη], [a=Γιώργος Κονιτόπουλος], [a=Κώστας Κονιτόπουλος], [a=Αγγελική Κονιτοπούλου] & [a=Βαγγέλης Κονιτόπουλος]. Brother-in-law of [a=Δημήτρης Φυρογένης]. Father-in-law of [a=Αικ. Κονιτοπούλου] (Yorgos' spouse). Uncle of [a=Κούλα Κονιτοπούλου]. Grandfather of [a=Ελένη Λεγάκη] (Irene's daughter), [a=Νάσια Κονιτοπούλου] (Yorgos' daughter), [a=Στέλλα Κονιτοπούλου] (Angeliki's daughter), [a=Βασίλης Κλουβάτος] (Angeliki's son), [a=Μαρία Κονιτοπούλου] (Angeliki's daughter], and [a=Μιχάλης Κονιτόπουλος (2)] (Vangelis' son).
