Γιάννης Παλαιολόγου

Greek laïkó bouzouki virtuoso. Born in 27 June 1944 in Kokkinia, Piraeus, Greece - Died 11 July 2008 in Athens, Greece. He made his first stage appearances in 1960 next to his uncle [a=Αργύρης Βαμβακάρης] (who had urged him onto stage and into discography), as a singer at first, and later, picking up the bouzouki, again for the needs of the stage, which, since then, did not leave until the end. His recording career started in 1962, again next to his uncle Argyris. In 1966, he left for the US where he remained until 1968-1969. In the last period of his activity, his name was associated with the recording comeback of [a=Στέλιος Καζαντζίδης], after whose death, he preferred to withdraw. He was son of Roza Vamvakari-Paleologou, the youngest sister of [a854009] and Argyris Vamvakaris. Cousin of [a=Στέλιος Βαμβακάρης] & [a=Δομένικος Βαμβακάρης] (Markos' sons) and [a9656110] (Argyris' son). Nephew of [a=Αντώνης Βαμβακάρης] (his mother's cousin).
