American country contralto vocalist and violinist.
Born March 12, 1900 in Hutchinson, Kansas, USA.
Died November 2, 1981 (81 years of age).
Married to musician/singer Frank Luther (1920-1980, his death).
One of the first women to have a western hit, "Seven Years With The Wrong Man". Layman was a classically traiined violinist and vocalist.
When Zora first delivered her song "Seven Years With The Wrong Man" on Ethel Park Richardson's NBC series Hillbilly Heart-Throbs, the switchboards were swamped with enthusiasm, and Zora had her first big hit. Additional popular recordings by Layman included "Answer to Twenty-One Years", "Hooray, I'm Single Again", and "Cowboy's Best Friend".
