    Ziggy Was

Rock band formed in 1992 in Thessaloniki, Greece.

They took their name from two songs of the 70s: David Bowie’s 'Ziggy Stardust' and Bob Marley’s 'Johnny Was'. Their music style was a mixture of hardcore, punk, grunge, and metal with funk touches. Kostas Pantelis who was the guitarist of 'Πίσσα Και Πούπουλα' (Pissa & Poupoula), joined the group as the lead guitarist later.
In early 1993 they recorded a demo titled 'Oil Land', which attracted the interest of the local indie record label 'Lazy Dog Records'. After releasing a 7" single, a MiniLP and a full-length album, they finally sign to Lazy Dog Records in 1997 and released their second full-length album. After that they disbanded.
Their first live performance was at 'Steki Filosofikis" (Thessaloniki) in April 1993.
On 26/6/1993 they performed live at Pedio Areos (Athens), along with 'Deus Ex Machina' & 'Εκτός Ελέγχου'.
On 27/1/1995 they performed live at club Zero (Thessaloniki) along with 'Γκούλαγκ' & 'Λώλαμα'.
