Jamaican Ska & Reggae vocal trio formed by Toots Hibbert, Nathaniel "Jerry" Matthias & Henry "Raleigh" Gordon in 1961 as The Vikings and made their first recordings in 1962 for coxsone Dodd. They later changed their name to The Maytals then finally to Toots & The Maytals (some sources say from a Byron Lee's idea following the death of producer Leslie Kong but it seems to have been used on some 1960s releases like Dog War / Little Flea or Sweet And Dandy).
