The Zulu word for "locomotive", Stimela formed from the ashes of guitarist/leader Ray Phiri's previous band, The Cannibals, in 1981 and soon became little short of an institution in their home country of South Africa. Ray Phiri - vocals/guitars Nana Coyote - vocals (1955 - Jul. 5, 2010) Isaac Mtshali - drums Jabu Sibumbe - bass Thabelo Kgomo - keyboards Lloyd Lelosa - keyboards/piano Ray Phiri died in South Africa in July 2017.
