Red Snapper are a British instrumental band founded in London in 1993 by Ali Friend (double bass), Richard Thair (drums), and David Ayers (guitar). The three core members are also joined by various guest musicians and vocalists on different records.


In early 2002, Red Snapper split up and went their separate ways focusing on solo projects.
In 2007 Red Snapper regrouped. Since the 2007 reunion Tom Challenger (saxophone) has also been a member of the band. In 2008 they started touring and then released a new album in 2011.
They were also joined live by vocalists [a=Anna Haigh] & Alison David, & keyboardist [a=Jake Williams (2)] & MC MC Det.
