Piter Wilkens

With the band Okke Hel Wilkens was at the basis of the Frisian-language pop scene from 1979 onwards. In 1986 he went solo and he is still at the top in musical Friesland. Piter sings exclusively in Frisian or in dialects related to Frisian. He has toured abroad several times ( the United States, Poland, Lithuania and Austria).
He performs solo, but also with a backing band, a local corps, a big band or a choir. In cafes, at festivals or in theaters. He shared the stage with De Kast, Rients Gratama, Anneke Douma, Gé Reinders and the Noord Nederlands Orkest, among others.
He has also performed successfully with the Frisian Youth Brass Band in 2004.

in 2017, Piter Wilkens was in the Frisian Top 100 with eight songs, which is broadcast annually on Omrop Fryslân on 31 December. These are both sensitive songs (such as It paad werom) and humorous songs (including Knoopkes and De bearenburch is myn sjirurch).
