American dancer and background singer with Prince and The New Power Generation from 1992 to 1996, married to Prince from 1996 to 2000. Born November 12, 1973, Fort Rucker, Alabama.

In 1990 [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/4607242]Mayte’s mother[/url] convinced some members of the [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/84751]NPG[/url] to give a bellydancing video to Prince. Ten minutes later, Mayte was asked backstage by Prince, and for the next two years, they kept in touch.

Away from music, she performs bellydance, and has appeared in several television shows and movies, worked as a choreographer (she taught Britney Spears some bellydancing moves for her iconic performance on the MTV Video Music Awards in 2001), is an activist for undefined and runs an animal shelter called 'Mayte's Rescue'. In 2017, she released a book titled "The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince".
