Max Normal was a South African four-piece "audio-visual unit" based in Johannesburg that "fused various elements ranging from hip-hop to jazz, through to electronica into a highly spontaneous theatrical performance."
Fronted by vocalist/rapper Waddy Jones, the remaining three members included Mark Buchanan (electric bass/electric guitar), Sean Ou Tim (drums/keyboards/samples) and Simon Ringrose (turntables/backing vocals). The band was dissolved in 2002 after Mr. Jones felt it became "too successful" and formed The Constructus Corporation; the remaining members continued under the name of Chromoscience.
The "Max Normal" name was later resurrected as a guise for himself leading the unit MaxNormal.TV.
