Luctor Ponse (October 11, Geneva, Switzerland, 1914 - February 17, Groningen, The Netherlands, 1998) started his musical training at the Valenciennes Conservatory (France) at the age of twelve before returning to Switzerland in 1933 to complete his studies at the Geneva Conservatory where he was awarded the Prix de Virtuosité in 1935. Settled in Amsterdam, Ponse attended courses in electronic music in Bilthoven and Darmstadt after 1949 and became a scientific co-worker and lecturer at the Instituut voor Sonologie in 1965 where he composed a Concerto for piano and tape, and a series of three compositions from recordings of shortwaves. Luctor Ponse has been a senior lecturer at the Muzieklyceum in Amsterdam, the Rotterdam Conservatorium and the Groningen Conservatorium where he also settled a studio for electronic music.
