In 1974 a distinguish group of jingles singers decided to join their efforts to create a vocal group to impulse the venezuelan folk songbook. The first formation included Ofelinda García, Gonzalo Peña, Fanny Barrios, Germán Freytes, Zenaida Riera, Alí Agüero, Otilia Rodríguez and José Ramón Angarita. Later some integrants left the group and were substituited by Carlos Morean, Maricruz Quintero, Edgar Salazar, Carlos Landáez, Ilba Rojas, José Sifontes, Meiber acuña, and recently Daniel Somaroo.
Los Cuñaos have shared stage with Maria Teresa Chacin and Roberto Carlos, also they have toured by Chile, Puerto Rico, EEUU and México.
