American Country music vocalist and musician.

Born: January 7, 1930 in Maryville, Tennessee Died: March 14, 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee. His first wife was songwriter Barbara Greene.
Inducted into the America's Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame (2005) and the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame (1988). Member of the WSM Grand Ole Opry.
He charted 33 times on the U.S. charts from 1965 to 1984. "There Goes My Everything" hit #1 country in late 1966 followed by his 2nd #1 in a row "All the Time" in early 1967. He also hit #1 country with "You Are My Treasure" and "Until My Dreams Come True" (both in 1968) and "Statue of a Fool" (1969). He also had 3 other top 10 singles in the country charts.
