J.L. (Joan) Gili (Barcelona, 1907 – Oxford, 1998) was a scholar, translator, publisher and bookseller. He lived in England from 1934 and ran the Dolphin Book Company in Oxford for many years. His first Federico García Lorca translations, made in collaboration with Stephen Spender, appeared in 1939. He also translated the Catalan poet Josep Carner’s "Nabí" (2001).
