Danish rock band founded in Skjern in 1966 by brothers Jens G. Nielsen and Peter A.G. Nielsen as Those Gnags. As a psychedelic quartet, the band released their debut single [r=2446807] in 1969. The band relocated to Aarhus in June 1971 and installed themselves in a villa at Haraldsgade 27 in the suburb of Viby. In 1973 they released their debut album På Vej, now playing more folkish, political rock. During the 1970's, the band established their own label [l=Genlyd] and recording studio [l=Feedback Recording] and released a string of rock albums. In the early 1980's the band turned their music towards pop-reggae, having Jack Nuber and Karl Pitterson produce some of their albums. At that time, Feedback Recording had become very popular and the band and the studio became the epicenter of an 80's pop-wave from the city of Aarhus, introducing artists such as Thomas Helmig and [a=Mek Pek Party band] who to a wide degree adapted the pop-reggae sound characterizing Gnags and the Feedback studio. From the early 80's to the early 90's Gnags was one of the most popular, hit-producing acts in Denmark with albums like X (1983), Den Blå Hund (1984), Mr. Swing King (1989), and Lygtemandens Sang (1991). Over the years such key members as Jens G. Nielsen (1974-1996) and Per Chr. Frost (1966-1996) have left the group. Per 2024, Gnags is still active, with Peter A.G. Nielsen as the only remaining member of the 1980's constellation.
