He is married to Lyn-Z of Mindless Self Indulgence. They live in Los Angeles, CA together and had their first child, a daughter, on May 27, 2009.

He is best known for his work in the band My Chemical Romance (2001 - 2013, 2019 - present)

As a side career he also has a hand in comic books. Some notable works of his are: The Umbrella Academy, Doom Patrol, and Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye.
His first comic book was published in 1994, under the pen name "Garry Way".
