Fifth Platoon was a hip-hop group from Queens, NY. In 1989, they signed to SBK Records and, in 1991, released their first single and video "The Partyline". The single was a low level hit for the group, who believed the record label was unwilling to promote the single enough for it to achieve the chart success they felt it deserved.
Fifth Platoon also released the track "Back To School" on the SBK Records soundtrack to the film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret Of The Ooze".
In 1992, the group ended their relationship with SBK due to creative differences and conflicts between the group, the label, and the band management, leaving their intended second single, "Ideal Woman", unreleased.
The group was also featured on a song called "Livin' Large in the Nineteez" on Joeski Love's "Joe Cool" album on Columbia / CBS Records, and on the "Cypha Session" on a Lyricist Lounge promotional CD.
A group of DJ's from Queens, NY took the name Fifth Platoon several years later as an homage to the defunct hip hop crew.
