In the late 80's and early 90's the Ecuadorian band Contravía helped with the transformation of national music and helped the medium take a new direction. Once the scenarios for bands like Contravía were opened, there was no turning back. With the change of music joined a new generation prepared and ready to be part of something fresh and new. Contravía had influences of the Jazz and the Blues. They fused several elements of these genres to create a live and powerful pop-rock style. Thanks to the musical level of Francisco 'Pancho' Terán, Felipe Terán, and Jay Byron we saw a wave of new sensations and experiences that until today we can enjoy. With the release of songs like 'Tapando el Sol con Un Dedo', 'Por Qué No Ves Si Llueve en Tel Aviv?', 'Lola', and 'Gafas con Caras' the band sets the musical history in Ecuador. In 1992 Contravía released 'Sólido' his first record album and in 1994 his second album 'Luz de Fuga' - with these records many lived an important time in the musical and cultural history of Ecuador. Music that inspired and gave way to other great bands and musicians to be part of the national scene.
