Booker T. Averheart

Mr. Averheart (born March 20, 1932 in Richland, died March 11, 2004). He attended G. W. Jackson High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in France and Germany, for which he received an Honorable Discharge after two years of military service. Then he resided in Dallas, where he attended Booker T. Washington School of Business. As an entrepreneur, he owned and operated Averheart's Motel in South Dallas off Silkwood Street. He also attended Meechum Airport Aviation School in Fort Worth, where he received his aviation pilot certification as VFR pilot in 1979. He was an accomplished musician where he received royalties and recognition for his musical talents and abilities. Booker T. also was involved in the business of promotions, promoting performances of several celebrity artist. Last but not least he was a philanthropist giving back to the community and individuals in need.
