American singer, guitarist, songwriter and announcer, also known as the "Singing School Teacher", born March 28, 1924 near Warren, Texas; died July 4, 1996. Known for writing "Y'all Come" (1952) and "It's The Little Things" (1967). Member of the KNUZ Houston Home Town Jamboree, KWKH Louisiana Hayride, KWTO Ozark Jubilee, WFAA Saturday Night Shindig and WSM Grand Ole Opry. Arlie's songwriting earned him awards: BMI Music Award for 'Y'all Come' 1953 and BMI Music Award for "It's the Little Things", recorded by Sonny James 1968.
