Jesse Lee Shibley, also known as "Arkie," was a prominent country boogie-woogie and pre-rockabilly artist. His recording of "Hot Rod Race" in November 1950 is considered a significant contribution to the development of Rockabilly music. He was born on September 21, 1915, in Van Buren, Arkansas, and died on September 7, 1975, in Van Buren, Arkansas.
