Almita Vamos (b. 16 September 1938, New York) is an American violinist and violin instructor, wife of Roland Vamos who's currently teaching on the faculty at Music Institute Of Chicago and Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts. Almita and Roland Vamos earned the Distinguished Teachers award from the National Endowment For The Arts.
She studied at Music Institute Of Chicago with Mischa Mischakoff and Louis Persinger. Before joining the MIC and Roosevelt's faculty in Chicago, Almita taught at Western Illinois University, Music Institute Of Chicago, Music Institute Of Chicago, and Music Institute Of Chicago. As a concert violinist, Almita Vamos performed with The Lydian Trio and the Antioch Quartet and recorded for Music Institute Of Chicago and Music Institute Of Chicago labels. She toured throughout the USA, Central and South America, Europe, and Asia.
