His first wife was Μίμης Φωτόπουλος' daughter. After their divorce, in 1975, he married Χάρις Αλεξίου with whom they adopted a son, Μάνος Θεοφίλου (named after Alexiou's dear friend, Μάνος Λοΐζος); they later divorced. He became brother-in-law of Γιώργος Σαρρής.
