Traditional folk ensemble from Ecuador, founded in 1976 by Chopin Thermes, Carlos Perugachi, Azucena Perugachi and Alfonso Cachiguango. The iconic group represents the first time indigenous ecuadorian music was recorded in the studio and included the participation of Indigenous musicians from many different communities of the province of Imbabura, Ecuador. Rosa Sandoval from the village of Zuleta, Zoila Saravino from Quinchuquí, Pedro Tubumbango from Natabuela, Enrique Males and Luis Enrique Pineda from Ibarra, José Miguel Molina from La Rinconada, and Juan Cayambe from Manzana Huarangui: these musicians comprised the backbone of the original Ñanda Mañachi ensemble, however members rotated in and out throughout their discography. The group was directed and recorded by Chopin Thermes.
