WE ARE THE PHYSICS, purveyors of the completely fictional 'mutant science punk rock' hail from Glasgow, Scotland and formed in 2005 by mistake.
Originally known as WE ARE THE PHYSICS CLUB AND THEREFORE EVERYTHING WE SAY IS FACT, the spindly-legged quartet source from such bands as Polysics, Ex Models, Devo, Servotron, The Skids and Buddy Holly.
Known for their eccentric leg manoeuvres, bad eyesight and energetic, frenetic stage shows, their nerd-rock b-movie chic has become the artrock secret of indie rejects to hardcore punks to pop princesses. Having once incited a moshpit during Club NME at London's Koko in an effort to watch bouffant haircuts collapse, the band have won themselves an oddly affectionate and loyal fan base.
Since their conception, they have been gigging relentlessly across the world sharing stages and Haribo with Polysics, Art Brut, Franz Ferdinand, Johnny Foreigner, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Sigue Sigue Sputnikk, 30 Seconds To Mars and Buzzcocks as well as playing major roles at UK and European festivals, including the NME/Radio 1 Stage at T In The Park.
They released their debut album in 2008 on London indie label This Is Fake DIY cheekily entitled 'WE ARE THE PHYSICS ARE OK AT MUSIC' preceded by their biggest selling single 'You Can Do Athletics, btw', the video for which was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA Award.
Possibly the only band in the history of bands to consist of three Michaels and a Chris, the Physics have since brought their brand of jerk-rock to Moscow and Finland (where they found fans by playing death metal festivals!). Their debut LP was released with extra tracks in Japan, selling so well the band toured there in 2009 to packed venues of teens in 3-D glasses.
After laying low to write a new record, We Are The Physics re-emerged in 2012 having recorded with Gang Of Four's Thomas McNeice holed up in Rubbergum Studios with an ode to Wimbledon tennis wildcard 'Goran Ivanisevic' which won them a legion of new fans in Croatia.
Early 2012 also saw them land a role in Stuart Murdoch of Belle & Sebastian's directorial feature film debut, 'God Help The Girl', set for release in 2013 starring Emily Browning of Sucker Punch. The film saw the band star as "Wobbly Legged Rat".
In October 2012, We Are The Physics released their second album 'YOUR FRIEND, THE ATOM'.

The band disbanded in 2015 after 10 years together, two albums, a healthy number of singles and a large, loyal fanbase. The three Michaels from the band later reformed as Slime City in 2017.
