Born: February 2, 1901 near Bolton, Mississippi
Died: April 22, 1975 in Chicago, Illinois

Walter Vinson, the Chatmon's (Bo Chatman, [a=Lonnie Chatman] and Sam Chatmon) neighbor, erroneously known as "Walter Vincson" and "Walter Vincent", sometimes recorded as "Walter Jacobs" (using his mother's maiden name).
Vinson recorded extensively 1929-1941, often with Mississippi Sheiks or with musicians from that circle. He recorded again for Riverside in 1961, and as a member of The New Mississippi Sheiks in 1972. Mostly inactive due to illness in his last years.
