American band leader, composer, and radio personality (b. July 26, 1883, Milwaukee, Wisconsin - d. August 24, 1945, Chicago, Illinois).
Blaufuss was a child prodigy on the piano who published his first two songs in 1908, at age 15. In 1911, he organized a band that played for years at Chicago's Tip Top Inn. Later, he served as an NBC staff conductor. He conducted the orchestra, wrote the theme music, and was a regular on the popular NBC radio show "The Breakfast Club" with Don McNeill, which ran from 1933 to 1968.
Among his greatest hits as a composer are "Your Eyes Have Told Me So" (1919, with lyrics by Egbert Van Alstyne and Gus Kahn), which sold over 2,500,000 copies, and the even more successful "My Isle of Golden Dreams" (1919, also with lyrics by Gus Kahn).
