    Born July 2, 1932 in Košice (Slovakia, former Czechoslovakia) as Vladimír Matuška, died May 30, 2009 in St. Petersburg Florida (USA). Husband of Olga Matušková (née Olga Blechová), father of Waldemar Matuška. One of the most popular Czechoslovak mainstream pop stars of the 1960s and 1970s. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1986, three years before the collapse of the communist regime.
