American singer and stage actress, active in the 1960s Vi Velasco was born on January 12, 1939 in Manila, Philippines (San Diego, California according to another source). She immigrated with her parents to the United States when she was one year old, settling first in San Diego, then Hollywood, California. After high school, Ms. Velasco moved to New York to study dramatics and voice. She performed in night clubs in the US, Canada, South America and Europe as well as headlining at the Las Vegas Flamingo Hotel. She also appeared in several musicals on Broadway and elsewhere.
