The project was created in 1998 in Yekaterinburg by members of the black metal band [a=Valhalla (7)] under the Russian title "Велеентор". Initially, the project was planned as a black ambient band, actively involved in live performances. The band included [a=Satt (3)] (also known as "[a=121]" or "Podonok"), [a=Schur], [a=Zlav] and others.

In 1998, the band recorded their first live album, consisting of three tracks (later re-issued as "[r=1275388]"). Until 1999, the group continued its planned activities. After that, Satt, interested in promoting the group outside of Russia, changed the name of the project to the Lating spelling: Velehentor. The group recorded the album "[r=1389780]" (1999) in dark ambient style, and after that a kind of collapse occurs in 2000, after which Satt continues to work on the project alone, sometimes attracting session musicians.
