Underoath is a Post-Hardcore and Metalcore band from Tampa, FL formed in November of 1997. They broke up in 2013 but reformed in 2015. The band used to be a Christian band but no longer associates with the Christian music scene and thinks Religion and Music should stay separate. This change was made because while for most of the bands' career all the members were Christian, by the time they split in 2013 they had some non-Christian members. These members felt alienated and it caused lots of issues within the band, so the band made the choice to keep their beliefs to themself and just be a non-Christian rock band. As of 2018 the only member of Underoath that still publicly identified as Christian was Christopher Dudley.
