Fayetteville, AR "Back before 'race' and' hillbilly' music, before radio, and before record companies, music existed in a spontaneous unpretentious form that produced a lot of crossovers and similarities in style. We are motivated by that straightforward approach so much that we like to present musical scenarios that almost certainly took place, but through the haphazard methods, and genuinely racist attitudes of the early commercial recording industry, were not documented or promoted...we dump the Harry Smith Anthology, the Lomax recordings, and anything we can get our hands on into a blender, drink it up, spit it out and see what in the heck it sounds like. We prefer playing old dilapidated instruments and consider excessive chord changes to be over-kill. We describe our sound as 'Rurnt' ('ruined' in the old Ozark vernacular)."
