Born October 30, 1947 in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil.
Tutty Moreno (Emmanuel Alves Moreno), drummer and percussionist, was born in the north of brasil and has been an important figure in brazilian popular music from the days of bossa nova through to the jazz influenced fusion of the 1970's, 1980's and beyond.
Tutty has recorded with all the finest brazilian artists, including his wife Joyce, Caetano Veloso and his sister Maria Bethania, Gal Costa, Hermeto Pascoal, Gilberto Gil and João Donato (to name but a few). He has also worked with many respected jazz musicians such as Ernie Watts, Larry Willis and Claus Ogerman.
From his base in Rio de Janeiro, Tutty still regularly records as one of brasil's premier percussionists.
He is married to singer/songwriter Joyce, who's band he plays in. Their daughter Clara Moreno is also a singer, and Joyce has another daughter who is a singer Ana Martins (aka Anané) who is married to Louie Vega.
