Trophies is a trio led by Alessandro Bosetti, who invited guitarist Kenta Nagai and drummer Tony Buck to explore his "repetitive speech-loop forms". The band was formed in 2009, when Bosetti was invited for an artist residency at Teatro Fondamenta Nuove in Venice, where his commission was to bring together an ensemble.
All of their compositions are derived from speech, where recordings of various people reading short texts or speaking extemporaneously are transposed into written music. Same ideas were explored on Bosetti's solo album Royals in 2011. Trophies uses lengthy, repetitive and highly dynamic text-sound forms in a totally unique and genre defying way, creating a powerful trance-like state, where voice and electronic sound melt with hallucinatory fretless guitar and textural, pulse driven drumming. They released three studio albums so far and tours regularly.

Ches Smith was replacing Buck on drums for Trophies tour in Sep 2012, and he also plays on A Color Photo Of The Horse album.
