American blues and R&B singer-songwriter and pianist from Springfield, Ohio.
Born 5 March 1933, and died 22 January, 1982 in Newark, New Jersey.
He made his first recordings in 1961 and is best known for the 1964 hit song "Hi-Heel Sneakers", that went to number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song's distinctive guitar part was played by Welton Young and bass by Brenda Lee Jones.
