Tommy Riggs

About

(1908 – 1967) American AM radio pianist-vocalist-voice actor. Active 1935-1946.

Recorded several risque, off-color sides with the Tennessee Ramblers for Bluebird (3) (as Hartman's Heart Breakers) & other more "family oriented" holiday and children's etiquette releases for other labels.

The Tommy Riggs and Betty Lou Show enjoyed moderate success with multiple sponsors and major radio networks. In 1942 Riggs joined the wartime U.S. Navy, taking Betty Lou to Allied camps in the Far East for 18 months; when he returned, radio audiences had largely forgotten him. Riggs had a final run on CBS in the summer of 1946, after which returned to Pittsburgh, where he died in 1967.
